Hanging pictures is much easier than you think, so sit down and grab a cup of coffee whilst I explain how to\u2026<\/p>\n\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-image\">\n<figure class=\"aligncenter size-large\"><img decoding=\"async\" width=\"450\" height=\"390\" class=\"wp-image-333\" src=\"https:\/\/www.printwild.co.za\/news\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/04\/art-26.jpg\" alt=\"\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.printwild.co.za\/news\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/04\/art-26.jpg 450w, https:\/\/www.printwild.co.za\/news\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/04\/art-26-300x260.jpg 300w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 450px) 100vw, 450px\" \/><\/figure>\n<\/div>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">If you are hanging a single piece the general rule is that the centre of the picture should be set at eye level for an average person, which means that all my pictures are waaaay to low being the midget that I am. Generally the height should be between 150 to 160cm from the floor.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>You will need:<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Newspaper or roll of brown paper<br \/>Hammer or Hilti hammer<br \/>Pencil<br \/>Spirit level<br \/>Tape measure<br \/>Picture hooks or Hilti hooks* \u2013 don\u2019t just hammer nails into the wall<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><em>*Buy the right hanging hardware to support the picture. A heavy frame will require additional support \u2013 at least two hangers. Always check the manufacturer\u2019s guidelines on the package to make sure it will support more weight.<\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 Always check the hardware to make sure it is firmly secured with screws to the back of the frame\/artwork.<\/li>\n<li>\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 If the artwork is heavy, use two D-ring hangers \u2013 one on each side of painting to hang the art<\/li>\n<li>\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 When hanging a frame from a wire, use to hooks in the wall for added stability.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>Here\u2019s how:<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">There are many different types of picture hangers to choose from, but the most common are saw-tooth hangers or picture wire. If your frame is fitted with a metal hanger or picture wire, then the step-by-step instructions below will explain how to hang your pictures like a pro.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Measure from left to right the determine the centre of the space where you will be hanging pictures. If you are mounting above a sofa or cabinet, use the length of that piece to ascertain the centre.<\/li>\n<li>You also need to measure from the floor up from both sides and mark at between 150cm as the bottom line for your arrangement. If the piece is higher than 150cm then your artwork should be at least 30cm to 50cm higher than the top of the piece. Use a spirit level to draw a line across the two marks to assist in staying level.<\/li>\n<li>For an arrangement of 3 or more pictures I prefer to cut brown paper to the size of each frame and position these on the wall with Prestik to move around until I am happy with the placement. Note each piece of paper and frame so that you don\u2019t get mixed up later on!<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-image\">\n<figure class=\"aligncenter size-large\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"450\" height=\"320\" class=\"wp-image-332\" src=\"https:\/\/www.printwild.co.za\/news\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/04\/art-12a.jpg\" alt=\"\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.printwild.co.za\/news\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/04\/art-12a.jpg 450w, https:\/\/www.printwild.co.za\/news\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/04\/art-12a-300x213.jpg 300w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 450px) 100vw, 450px\" \/><\/figure>\n<\/div>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Use the wall-mounted templates, a tape measure and spirit level to adjust the templates for level and distance between each other.<\/li>\n<li>For this step you need to measure and mark for the right hanging height. Measure the distance from the top of the hanger \u2013 or wire when pulled tight \u2013 to the top of the frame. Transfer this measurement onto the corresponding piece of numbered paper. Now you see why you need to number them !<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-image\">\n<figure class=\"aligncenter size-large\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"450\" height=\"320\" class=\"wp-image-331\" src=\"https:\/\/www.printwild.co.za\/news\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/04\/art-12a-1.jpg\" alt=\"\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.printwild.co.za\/news\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/04\/art-12a-1.jpg 450w, https:\/\/www.printwild.co.za\/news\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/04\/art-12a-1-300x213.jpg 300w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 450px) 100vw, 450px\" \/><\/figure>\n<\/div>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>Here are some examples of stylish wall layouts when hanging pictures:<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Tightly group an even number of pictures to balance a large space, such as a high wall in a room with vaulted ceilings \u2013 or tightly group an even number of pictures in a small space, such as a galley kitchen or a narrow passage, to give a window effect. Enhance the effect by using light coluors and slender frames.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">In both cases, the trick to evenly numbered collections is tight grouping so that pieces appear as one statement rather than a series of small comments.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-image\">\n<figure class=\"aligncenter size-large\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"450\" height=\"300\" class=\"wp-image-330\" src=\"https:\/\/www.printwild.co.za\/news\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/04\/art-17.jpg\" alt=\"\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.printwild.co.za\/news\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/04\/art-17.jpg 450w, https:\/\/www.printwild.co.za\/news\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/04\/art-17-300x200.jpg 300w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 450px) 100vw, 450px\" \/><\/figure>\n<\/div>\n\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-image\">\n<figure class=\"aligncenter size-large\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"450\" height=\"297\" class=\"wp-image-329\" src=\"https:\/\/www.printwild.co.za\/news\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/04\/art-18.jpg\" alt=\"\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.printwild.co.za\/news\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/04\/art-18.jpg 450w, https:\/\/www.printwild.co.za\/news\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/04\/art-18-300x198.jpg 300w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 450px) 100vw, 450px\" \/><\/figure>\n<\/div>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">If you have a selection of dissimilar pictures with at least one common element, such as subject matter, use an asymmetrical grouping for a more organic balance.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-image\">\n<figure class=\"aligncenter size-large\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"450\" height=\"298\" class=\"wp-image-328\" src=\"https:\/\/www.printwild.co.za\/news\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/04\/art-19.jpg\" alt=\"\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.printwild.co.za\/news\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/04\/art-19.jpg 450w, https:\/\/www.printwild.co.za\/news\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/04\/art-19-300x199.jpg 300w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 450px) 100vw, 450px\" \/><\/figure>\n<\/div>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Group larger and smaller pieces, to create interest and energy.
